Better World Canada

Better World Canada Foundation (BWCF) was created to advance education by providing adults (aged 18 to 39) continuing education courses in entrepreneurship and computer and technological skills. BWCF will also advance education by providing a series of workshops on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion to the general public.

BWCF seeks to contribute to a diverse, inclusive and creative society for Canada’s youth and provide them with entrepreneurship bases in order for them to have a competitive advantage in today’s global community of professionals.

Policy of Better World Canada Foundation

BWCF deems volunteers as a valuable resource and encourages them to get involved at all levels of the organization and within all community activities, programs and services. We aim to train, support and supervise our volunteers to the best of our abilities, and to act quickly and fairly when difficulties arise.

5 - All staff are entitled to see their personnel records or any other written reports concerning them.

6 - Each person has the right to work in a safe, healthy and free from harassment workspace.

7 - Volunteers are viewed as a valuable resource to the organization. Volunteers shall be extended the right to be given meaningful assignments, the right to effective supervision and the right to recognition for work done.

8 - Volunteers are eligible for reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred while undertaking business for the organization. The volunteer coordinator shall distribute information to all volunteers regarding specific items that may be reimbursed. Prior approval must be sought for any major expense.

9 - BWCF accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels within the organization and within all appropriate programs and activities.

10 - BWCF recognizes the added value that volunteers bring into the organization and the benefit their contribution makes to our programs. Our foundation seeks to provide a rewarding personal experience in return.

Responsibilities

1 - Volunteers shall agree to actively perform their tasks to the best of their abilities and to remain loyal to the goals of the organization.

2 - When providing volunteers with access to records, the person will take due care to protect people’s privacy.

3 - Provide choices and opportunities for all people, particularly disadvantaged or oppressed groups and individuals who have not had equal access to resources and opportunities.

4 - Encourage respect for diversity of cultures and minority groups.

5 - Additional opportunities will be available to volunteers at the organization. Volunteers are encouraged to attend conferences and meetings that are relevant to their role. Prior approval from the volunteer coordinator should be obtained to attend any event that may require reimbursement of expenses.

6 - Volunteers are expected to commit some of their time on a regular basis. If a volunteer is expecting to be absent on a day where they committed to helping, they should notify the volunteer coordinator as early as possible so that alternative arrangements can be made. Volunteers may be encouraged to find a replacement amongst those already involved as volunteers in the organization.
